Location: Borno State (MMC, Jere and Konduga)
Overall purpose of the role:
The economic recovery officer is responsible for supporting the RESILAC II Economic Recovery program and vocational training, including, day-to-day monitoring and supervise of the delivery of business grants and vocational training in MMC, Jere and Konduga LGAs. The position will support in facilitating relations between NADA and local communities in the realization of project activities.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in communicating NADA economic recovery activities to the stakeholders and the community.
- Identification, and registration of the economic recovery activities targets groups.
- Conducting profiling and counselling sessions for identified candidates according to the project selection process.
- Ensure equal participation by all segments of the community, taking into consideration issues regarding gender, age, and people with disabilities.
- Lead in and conduct various field assessments and surveys including needs assessment, market, and labour market assessments, and baseline surveys.
- Strengthen the links between NADA and stakeholders including vocational Training (VT) centre, Chamber of commerce, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain a clear database of all possible participants in the program (selected and not selected) and provide regular updates (at least monthly)
- Identify gaps in the business market and encourage the development of new relevant businesses to fill the gap.
- Monitoring and supporting project implementation at the field level.
- Held business support training with beneficiaries for Business grants, as well as other beneficiaries identified for such trainings by the NADA database.
- Provide regular advice and technical support to business development support beneficiaries.
- Organize and support the running of vocational training activities.
- Regularly supervise and monitor project activities and provide timely inputs, feedback, updates and weekly reports to the project coordinator.
- Compile monthly reports on activities conducted and vocational training to the project coordinatorr.
- Actively contribute to the teamwork of the Economic recovery activities.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator
Experience and technical competencies:
Essential qualifications:
- Relevant experience in similar contexts – at least 2-5 years
- Experience in similar economic recovery assignments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of local laws and regulations.
- Able to work energetically.
- Excellent computer skills (Web, outlook, Microsoft office –excel, word and power point)
- Knowledge of the current context of displacement (IDPs and Host Community) and ongoing economic crisis in Borno State.
Preferred qualifications:
- An advanced university degree would be an advantage.
- Proven experience in the development of accountability systems and tools for NGOs.
- Experience working with Non-Governmental Organizations.
- Experience in training and capacity-building of staff.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and values.
- Understanding of gender, protection, and human rights.
Education:
Relevant university degree or similar education (Economics, Business Administration, international development, Finance and other relevant field).
Languages:
Spoken and written English, Hausa, Kanuri and shuwa.
