Job Description
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manager based in Kenya leads the design and implementation of M&E systems to track and enhance performance and outcomes. This includes developing tools, analyzing data, supporting capacity building, and managing reporting processes. The role ensures effective stakeholder collaboration, oversees M&E staff development, and leverages data visualization for decision-making. Additionally, the Manager drives learning agendas and strategic partnerships to promote organizational excellence and continuous improvement.
Design and implement M&E Systems – Contribute to the design and implementation of a robust M&E system tailored to strategic clients’ needs to systematically track, assess, and enhance performance and outcomes. This involves designing data collection tools, methodologies, and quality assurance procedures to ensure that data is accurate and useful for decision-making.
Data Collection and Analysis – Design data collection tools, collect and analyze data from various sources, such as Data Warehouses, ERP systems, and project documentation, ensuring the data is relevant, timely, and accurate.
Technical Assistance and Capacity Building – Design and implement technical assistance and capacity building activities for AMI staff (SPMs, LSMs, …), clients, and local service providers in the form of tools, methods, trainings, and resources for developing technical learning and adaptation capacity that effectively meets programmatic and organizational needs.
Reporting – Supports SPMs in drafting and reviewing technical documents and reports, including donor reports, project or study briefs, or other dissemination products to promote learning, and enhance visibility of AMI and its clients.
M&E Systems and Database Management – Developing and maintaining M&E systems, including data management processes and procedures.
Data Visualization and Dashboards – Develop data visualization tools and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making. Ensure accurate, real-time data is available for internal decision-making and external reporting.
Stakeholder Coordination – Liaise with partners and other organizations to ensure effective collaboration on M&E issues. Identify and engage in strategic partnerships with relevant external organizations, conferences, learning platforms and events to showcase and disseminate lessons.
Development of Learning Agenda – Facilitates and leads the development of learning agenda including leading the development of technically sound research questions, defining research methods and overseeing implementation of relevant learning activities with project partners.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in M&E, preferably in the education, business development, or entrepreneurship sector.
Strong technical skills in M&E implementation & method, data collection, analysis, visualization, and database management.
Proficiency in M&E tools, data analysis software, and dashboard platforms (e.g., Excel, Tableau, SPSS/R).
Experience in designing and delivering capacity-building initiatives.
Exceptional communication skills, with experience in drafting reports, briefs, and dissemination materials, as well as direct client facing ability
Proven ability to manage projects and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated understanding of Africa’s business and entrepreneurship ecosystem is highly desirable.
Ability to develop comprehensive frameworks, indicators, and tools aligned with program goals.
Expertise in results-based management, logic models, and theories of change.
Experience in generating actionable insights to improve program outcomes.
Strong writing and presentation skills to translate complex data into accessible insights.
Strong critical thinking skills to assess program impact and address challenges effectively.
Flexibility to work in dynamic environments and across diverse cultural contexts.
